(no longer works) How to easily add uBlock origin to chrome in 2025!

Recently, Google made a decision that many people didn't like: it removed the ability to download the popular adblocker uBlock origin from the Chrome extensions store. In this article I will show you how you can add this extension back to Google Chrome. Go to:  https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock Click on releases Scroll down to assets, then download the chromium zip. Put the .zip file somewhere where you're sure you won't accidentally delete it (for me it's the desktop) then unzip it there Open chrome's extension manager tab In the extension manager tab, cilck the developer mode switch on Click on the "load unpacked" button then pick the previously unzipped folder called "uBlock0.chromium" (if your unzipped folder is called "uBlock0_1.64.0.chromium", then go in it and there should be the "uBlock0.chromium" folder) And that's it! Google Chrome has received a visual update to celebrate its 15th birthday. The update brought a new look on the desktop. The entire look of Chrome has been redesigned for "better" readability, according to Google:  https://blog.google/products/chrome/google-chrome-new-features-redesign-2023/ I think there are a number of problems with this new look. 1. The new theme gives it a Windows 11 look, which I don't like, although that's personal 2. The whole pages, extensions, and the search bar above have gotten bigger, and the spacing between each button is bigger 3. the right-click menu is now twice as big, and it comes up with some kind of lame foreground effect that can be annoying at times How to restore the old theme in Windows: You will need a special shortcut that starts Chrome by turning off a setting (the new theme in this case).
